Homeopathic approach to hormone imbalance / Гомеопатия и гормональные нарушения

Sepia

Sepia is a remedy for hormonal imbalances, and is often indicated in women, who have a slightly more masculine build, such as straight rather than curved hips.  Sepia women are also very often athletic, and even though, they generally may feel weak, they often feel much better from vigorous exercise.  This is, in fact, one of the first remedies I think of for women who are actively involved in sports.  The exercise they take may be in the form of dance rather than athletics, as this is one of the main remedies for passion to dance in homeopathy.  Sepia and Carcinosin both share this love of dance and amelioration from exercise, as well as many other symptoms.
Sepia women are often career oriented, rather than oriented toward raising a family, though they may be engaged in both activities simultaneously, and having a rough time balancing the two.  If they are raising a family, even though they love their family dearly, it can be a stress on them.  Occasionally people who need Sepia have a difficult time showing affection, or they can be indifferent to the people they love, and have a lot of anger or aversion to their spouse.  These feelings often come to the fore right before the period is due, in the form of PMS anger.
Sepias tend to suffer from weakness and low energy in general, and the worse time of day for them is often three to five in the afternoon. Other distinctive features of the Sepia profile are a love of watching thunderstorms, which Carcinosin and Lycopodium also share, aggravation from doing the laundry, a yellow- brown saddle or discoloration across the cheeks and nose, a desire for chocolate, vinegar, lemons and pickles.

You have amenorrhea, or absent menstruation, if you usually menstruate but your periods have stopped for two months or more and you are not approaching menopause. Common causes are anorexia, excessive weight loss or exercise, stress, and discontinuation of birth control pills. See your doctor if your period might have stopped because you're pregnant. If you're not pregnant, here are two remedies to consider.

Aconitum napellus: This is the best remedy if you stopped menstruating suddenly
[] you feel a heaviness or ache in your ovaries
[] you are anxious and nervous.
If this sounds like you, take a 30C dose of Aconitum napellus every 12 hours for up to 14 days.

Ignatia: This is the best remedy if
[] your behavior changed when your period stopped
[] you suffer mood swings, like laughing and crying unexpectedly
[] you worry that you will express feelings at inappropriate moments
[] your period stopped after a loved one died.
If this sounds like you, take a 30C dose of Ignatia every 12 hours for up to 14 days.

OTHER SOLUTIONS: If you've stopped menstruating, make sure you eat regular meals and consume adequate calories and dietary fat. (Consult your health care practitioner for advice.)

ANXIETY

Studies show that women are two to three times more likely to suffer from anxiety disorders than men. Anxiety can be triggered by stress, fear, and even changes in blood sugar. Here are four remedies to consider.

Arsenicum album: This is the right remedy if
[] your anxiety is accompanied by restlessness
[] you are fatigued
[] you have a tendency to be fastidious
[] your skin is clammy
[] your pulse races.
If this sounds like you, take a 6C dose of Arsenicum album every two hours, up to 10 doses.

Calcarea carbonica: This is the right remedy if
[] you're forgetful
[] you worry about making a fool of yourself
[] you're initially obsessed with work, but later feel defeated by it
[] you tend to bore other people by describing your ailments.
If this sounds like you, take a 6C dose of Calcarea carbonica every two hours, up to 10 doses.

Lycopodium: This remedy is right if
[] you feel apprehensive about performing in public
[] you can't sleep because you review the day's events
[] anxiety decreases your appetite
[] you crave sweets when you can't sleep.
If this sounds like you, take a 6C dose of Lycopodium every two hours, up to 10 doses.

Phosphorus: This is the right remedy if
[] you are relieved by reassurance you are sensitive to the feelings of others, but prefer the limelight
[] you fear many things, including the dark, being alone, or dying.
If this sounds like you, take a 6C dose of Phosphorus every two hours, up to 10 doses.

OTHER SOLUTIONS: Stress can exacerbate anxiety, so adopt relaxation techniques like yoga, meditation, and tai chi. Avoid caffeine; this stimulant can make anxiety worse.

CYSTITIS

Cystitis is the inflammation and infection of the urinary tract, also known as a urinary tract infection (UTI). Symptoms include painful urination and an increased urge to urinate. If untreated, UTIs can develop into kidney infections; see your doctor if your pain is severe or your symptoms don't improve within three days. Otherwise, here are three remedies to consider.

Cantharis: This is the best remedy if
[] you have a nonstop urge to urinate
[] you feel sharp, burning pains in your abdomen
[] your lower back aches
[] you feel like you can't empty your bladder and pass only small amounts of urine with some blood.
If this sounds like you, take a 30C dose of Cantharis every 30 minutes, up to 10 doses.

Nux vomica: This is the best remedy If
[] you have a painful need to urinate
[] you feel chilled
[] you want to be left alone.
If this sounds like you, take a 6C dose of Nux vomica every 30 minutes, up to 10 doses.

Staphysagria: This is the best remedy if
[] you have a continuous burning sensation in your urinary tract
[] you feel like a drop of urine is constantly trickling through your urethra
[] you feel angry.
If this sounds like you, take a 6C dose of Staphysagria every 30 minutes, up to 10 doses.

OTHER SOLUTIONS: Flush your bladder by drinking 10 eight-ounce glasses of fluid a day, including sugar-free cranberry juice. Compounds in the cranberry prevent bacteria from adhering to bladder walls. Abstain from sex for several days and avoid alcohol and caffeine, which can aggravate UTIs.

HEAVY PERIODS

A heavy period is the loss of more than 3 ounces of blood during a menstrual cycle. (The average loss is about 2 ounces.) This problem can be caused by a hormonal imbalance, stress, or the approach of menopause. Here are two remedies to consider.

Calcarea carbonica: This is the best remedy if
[] you feel cold before your period begins
[] you get cramps
[] your periods are irregular
[] you can't concentrate
[] you seem particularly clumsy.
If this sounds like you, take a 30C dose of Calcarea carbonica every eight hours, up to 10 doses.

Sepia: This is the best remedy if
[] your cramps are so severe you feel faint
[] your periods are irregular
[] you have an itchy vaginal discharge
[] you cry a lot
[] you feel indifferent, even to loved ones.
If this sounds like you, take a 30C dose of Sepia every eight hours, up to 10 doses.

OTHER SOLUTIONS: Some health care practitioners say heavy periods are a sign your body is trying to detoxify, so avoid caffeine and alcohol, which can be toxic to your body. Bioflavonoids also help reduce heavy bleeding by strengthening blood vessel walls. Foods rich in bioflavonoids include blueberries, cherries, and grapes.

MENOPAUSE

The end of menstruation usually occurs between the ages of 45 and 55. Symptoms include hot flashes, vaginal dryness, and anxiety. See your health care practitioner if you have prolonged, irregular bleeding. Here are three remedies to consider to ease your symptoms. If one of these remedies helps, continue to take it when you experience symptoms. If it isn't helping, stop after seven days, as specified.

Calcarea carbonica: This is the best remedy if
[] you worry that people will notice your memory lapses
[] you have panic attacks
[] your face sweats
[] you crave sweets
[] your back aches.
If this sounds like you, take a 30C dose of Calcarea carbonica every 12 hours for up to seven days.

Lachesis: This is the best remedy if
[] you feel overexcited
[] you tend to talk too much
[] you have difficulty breathing
[] you experience insomnia.
If this sounds like you, take a 30C dose of Lachesis every 12 hours for up to seven days.

Sepia: This is the best remedy if
[] you feel anxious during hot flashes
[] sex is painful due to vaginal dryness
[] you feel indifferent to loved ones
[] your hair is thinning.
If this sounds like you, take a 30C dose of Sepia every 12 hours for up to seven days.

OTHER SOLUTIONS: Changes in your hormones at menopause can cause your blood sugar levels to fluctuate, so avoid sugar and caffeine, which further upset those levels. Supplementing with calcium, magnesium, vitamin E, and B vitamins may help.

MENSTRUAL CRAMPS

Often caused by a hormonal imbalance, menstrual cramps are common in teenagers and young women. Stress can make the pain worse. Here are two remedies to consider.

Pulsatilla: This is the best remedy if
[] you get cramps so severe that you feel nauseated
[] you feel tearing pain in your abdomen
[] you get migraines or diarrhea during your period
[] you're prone to depression.
If this sounds like you, take a 30C dose of Pulsatilla every hour, up to 10 doses.

Sepia: This is the best remedy if
[] you have sharp pains in your abdomen
[] you are irritable and you want to be left alone
[] you break out during your period.
If this matches your symptoms, take a 30C dose of Sepia every hour, up to 10 doses.

Meat, eggs, and dairy may intensify cramps.

OTHER SOLUTIONS: Cut back on meat, eggs, dairy, white flour, and sugar, all of which may intensify cramping. Eat more vegetables, fruit, legumes, and whole grains. Supplementing with calcium, magnesium, and B vitamins may also help.

MIGRAINES

Because migraines can be caused by a hormonal imbalance, women are three times more likely to get these severe headaches than men. The pain may be accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light. Migraines are often triggered by menstruation, oral contraceptives, and menopause. Here are three remedies for hormone-related migraines.

Natrum muriaticum: This is the best remedy if
[] you feel numbness and tingling in your lips and tongue before a migraine
[] your pain pulsates
[] you feel as if there is too much blood in your head
[] fasting improves your symptoms.
If this sounds like you, at the first sign of attack, take a 6C dose of Natrum muriaticum. Continue taking a dose every 15 minutes, up to 10 doses.

Pulsatilla: This is the best remedy if
[] you are prone to mood swings during a migraine
[] you cry easily
[] your pain is relieved by firm pressure
[] gentle exercise improves your symptoms.
If this sounds like you, at the first sign of attack, take a 6C dose of Pulsatilla. Continue taking a dose every 15 minutes, up to 10 doses.

Sanguinaria: This is the best remedy if
[] your migraines began or grew worse at menopause
[] your migraines feel worse around midday
[] you can usually relieve the pain by applying pressure to your head or urinating.
If this sounds like you, at the first sign of an attack, take a 6C dose of Sanguinaria. Continue taking a dose every 15 minutes, up to 10 doses.

If your migraines began at menopause, Sanguinaria can help.

OTHER SOLUTIONS: Tension can bring on migraines, so try to avoid stress. Keep your blood sugar steady by eating frequent snacks rich in protein and complex carbohydrates. If you take oral contraceptives, consider other forms of birth control.

MORNING SICKNESS

This nausea is triggered by the changes in hormone levels during pregnancy and usually lasts until the fourth month. Some women develop vomiting so severe that they and their babies risk dehydration. If you can't keep any food or liquids down for 24 hours, consult your doctor. Otherwise, here are three remedies to consider. (If one of these remedies helps, you can continue to take it whenever you feel nauseated. If it isn't helping, stop after three days, as specified.)

Ipecacuanha: This is the best remedy if
[] you seem to vomit constantly
[] vomiting does not ease your nausea
[] you produce excessive saliva
[] you aren't thirsty.
If this sounds like you, take a 6C dose of Ipecacuanha every two hours for up to three days.

Nux vomica: This is the best remedy if
[] your nausea is worst in the morning
[] your mouth is dry and your tongue is thickly coated
[] you crave very fresh or fatty, spicy, or sour foods
[] you feel an aversion to bread, meat, and coffee.
If this sounds like you, take a 6C dose of Nux vomica every two hours for up to three days.

Pulsatilla: This is the best remedy if
[] your nausea is worst in the early evening but wears off later at night
[] your mouth is dry but you aren't thirsty
[] your stomach gurgles
[] fatty foods tend to upset your digestion
[] you crave sweets.
If this sounds like you, take a 6C dose of Pulsatilla every two hours for up to three days.

OTHER SOLUTIONS: Eat frequent small meals and avoid fatty foods. Try dry crackers first thing in the morning, cook with fresh ginger (a nausea easer), and drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration.

PREMENSTRUAL SYNDROME

The range of physical and mental symptoms called premenstrual syndrome (PMS) can affect women two to 14 days before menstruation begins. The symptoms may include bloating, swollen breasts, tearfulness, and irritability. Here are three remedies that treat a range of PMS symptoms.

Calcarea carbonica: This is the best remedy if
[] your main symptom is bloating
[] you lack energy
[] you feel depressed
[] you worry that others will notice your PMS.
If this sounds like you, take a 30C dose of Calcarea carbonica every 12 hours for up to three days, starting a day before PMS usually begins.

Pulsatilla: This is the best remedy if
[] your main symptom is depression
[] you feel anxious about the future
[] you tend to gain weight before your period
[] you get headaches or nausea before your period.
If this sounds like you, take a 30C dose of Pulsatilla every 12 hours for up to three days, starting a day before PMS usually begins.

Sepia: This is the best remedy if
[] your main symptom is indifference to your loved ones
[] you want to be alone
[] you have an aversion to sex
[] your skin is oily.
If this sounds like you, take a 30C dose of Sepia every 12 hours for up to three days, starting a day before PMS usually begins.

OTHER SOLUTIONS: Avoid salty foods and caffeine, especially if you experience bloating. Reduce your intake of dairy, meat, eggs, white flour, and sugar (all of which can exacerbate PMS). Supplementing with vitamin E and B vitamins may also help.

YEAST INFECTIONS

Yeast infections are caused by an overgrowth of fungus in your vagina. The main symptoms are a white vaginal discharge and an itch. They can be triggered by stress, overwork, pregnancy, and prescription drugs including antibiotics and oral contraceptives. Here are three remedies to consider.

Calcarea carbonica: This is the best remedy if
[] you feel itchier after urination
[] you suffer from chronic headaches
[] you feel anxious or depressed.
If this sounds like you, take a 6C dose of Calcarea carbonica six times a day for up to five days.

Sepia: This is the best remedy if
[] your discharge smells offensive
[] you have burning pain in your vagina
[] you cry often
[] you feel indifferent toward loved ones.
If this sounds like you, take a 6C dose of Sepia six times a day for up to five days.

Sulfur: This is the best remedy if
[] your discharge causes itching and vaginal soreness
[] you alternate between constipation and diarrhea
[] you have offensive gas.
If this sounds like you, take a 6C dose of Sulfur six times a day for up to five days.

OTHER SOLUTIONS: Cut back on sugar, white flour, and alcohol, which allow yeast to thrive. Eat yogurt that contains live, active cultures of Lactobacillus acidophilus, which prevent yeast from multiplying.
