Regularly weekly application of a paste made of chickpea flour and turmeric will remove facial hair gently and discourage hair growth, especially on the chin and cheeks. At the same time, the mixture will cleanse the skin and leave a healthy glow. Use high quality turmeric, otherwise the spice may leave a temporary yellowish tint on the skin. Turmeric and chickpea flour, which is also known as besan flour or gram flour, can be found in Indian markets, Asian specialty markets or health food stores.

Step 1

Place 1 tbsp. chickpea flour in a cup. Add enough milk or water to form a thick paste.

Step 2

Stir in 1 tsp. cream or yogurt and a pinch of powdered turmeric. The mixture should be thick but spreadable.

Step 3

Wash your hands with soap and water so that any bacteria on your hands won't be transferred to your face. Cleanse your face, using a cleanser formulated for your skin type. Allow your face to air dry.

Step 4

Apply the chickpea flour paste over the facial area where you wish to remove hair. Smooth the mixture over the area in the direction of hair growth.

Step 5

Allow the mixture to dry completely, and then use a dry washcloth to scrub the area, working opposite the direction of hair growth.

Step 6

Pat your face dry with a soft towel, and then apply sweet almond oil or olive oil to the area to sooth the skin and replenish lost moisture.

Following tips are recommended.

  1. Increase the intake of blackgram in diet.
  2. Reduce intake of hot and sour foods.
  3. Apply turmeric paste to face and areas of hair growth while bathing.
  4. Asoka gritham 2 spoonful morning and evening on empty stomach.
  5. Asokarishtam 25 ml after food at bedtime.

Experience has shown that for permanent hair removal a few sessions of sugaring followed by application of turmeric and black gram (Bengal gram/besan) paste on the affected areas seem to work wonders. The subsequent hair growth is found to be thin and sparse. Repeating the process eventually leads to permanent hair removal.

  1. As a side note... tumeric can really stain the bath tub! I hope those stains will come off eventually.

    1. This is very true. I did not realize until I tried a similar hair removal recipe a few years ago, just how staining turmeric is. I was finally able to get the stain out of my tub with a homemade cleaner that contains vinegar, borax and Dr. Bronner's Sal Suds. It takes a LOT of scrubbing. I had to throw away my shower curtain though. The stains would not come out. So, CAUTION, when using turmeric. Only use wash cloths and towels that you don't mind being permanently stained. Be sure to wash the paste off in the tub, with your shower curtain outside the tub.

  2. Simply amazing, turmeric is in my home and i wasn't aware that it can be useful for removing unwanted hair, will definitely try this method.
